Fleshgod Apocalypse - Oracles (2009)

BRUTAL DEATH METAL WITH CLASSICAL INFLUENCE?! O RLY? Yeah, that's about it. And it's good too! The vocalist/guitarist of Hour Of Penance plays in this band, and his influence is noticeable, since Fleshgod Apocalypse's music is pretty similar to that of the previously mentioned Italian brutal-tech-death band. Except here we have more emphasis on the melodic passages, solos, and such. Every now and then the feeling catches me that I'm listening to an authentic classical composition played by a death metal band, which is a pretty unique feat. Kudos for the original ideas, and for managing to pull them off well. This is some sophisticated stuff!

Pestilence - Resurrection Macabre (2009)

Pestilence are a band who will need no introduction if you have done at least minimal research regarding Dutch death metal. They've progressed through several genres, from rough thrash to death metal to jazz-death, and in all of them they created remarkable albums. They've been slacking the past 15 years (they released a live album and apparently some rehearsal compilation but nobody cares about those) and have just reformed in 2008, so the comeback album was bound to piss off a lot of old fans regardless of the new style they choose. Resurrection Macabre is a death metal album with a considerably cleaner sound than their earlier effort with the most similar style (namely Consuming Impulse) and instead of jazz influence, we have what we today call tech death. It's not full blown wankery, but they noticeably made an effort to make the album have a "mind-boggling" sound overlayed with varying midtempos and blastbeats, which is another thing unusual for Pestilence. Of course, they'll never get back to playing the exact same kind of music they did in the late 80s, but the new album isn't bad, it depends on if you get used to the new sound or not.

Nothnegal - Antidote Of Realism (2009)

Well, this EP contains only 4 songs, but they're so good i almost came. I would call this melodic death/black metal, but don't care about the genres, just download it, 'cause it's AWESOME!
If you are interested in the melodeath genre, maybe this will catch your interest:
"Nothnegal have completed recording the upcoming EP "Antidote of Realism EP", it contains 4 original songs and features Risto Ruuth of Eternal Tears of Sorrow who did a guitar solo on the song Web of Deceit, Marco Sneck from Kalmah contributed a keyboard solo to the title track Antidote of Realism, Chuck from Serenity Dies provided backing vocals and Chippe' did a guitar solo in the song Temptress of Shadows"

This album is the best in history of the group! Listen it to believe me!!!

Abominator - Subversives For Lucifer (2001)

It’s the second full length album of these Australian freaks. And in comparison with the first one it should be pointed out that “Subversives For Lucifers” doesn’t differ too much. Here you can also find the same powerful high-speed drums, the same buzz of guitar riffs, an exquisite bass-line and brutal as hell growling parts which sometimes even seem to rise to a deafening pitch of screaming. It’s sure to be an absofuckinglutely amazing release for those who worship Destroyer 666!

Abominable Putridity - In the End of Human Existence (2007)

Fuckin' grreat Slamming Guttural Brutal Death Metal from Russia, Moscow! One of the most death metal group in Russia! Best reccomendations!!!!!

If you still have a problem with me helping the word get out by making this available, just mail me, and I'll remove it. I've also posted it on mediaportal.ru, now 3/4 of Russia probably has it already so it probably won't make a difference. Hugs and kisses - Wormpaste.

A Mors Et Bello - Sounds Of Horror (2006)

Good black metal from Mexico. One of best black metal albums from Mexico in 2006!!

A Canorous Quintet - The Only Pure Hate (1998)

This album is written in traditional Sweden melodic death style: threshing rhythm-section, buzzing guitars, memorized solos, squeaky vocal, rather screaming than growling. "The Only Pure Hate" associates with Dark Tranquillity's "The Mind's I".

A.N.I.M.A.L

Usa Toda Tu Fuerza (1999)

Well, I will try to be honestly, I don't know to say something about this album! I can say that with this release A.N.I.M.A.L. did a stride forward! Each their album - it is something new! Just listen it!

Exmortem - Funeral Phantoms (2008)

Oh wow, this sure looks awesome, doesn't it? I mean, if it has a gasmask on the cover it can't be bad, right? Nevermind. This is Danish death metal. I've heard the band to be claimed "the fastest Death Metal band on this planet", which is a pretty ridiculous remark even disregarding the fact that the faster death metal bands come from planets such as Saturn and Uranus. What the fuck. Exmortem indeed play very fast, but Funeral Phantoms is noticeably slower compared to their earlier works, and has a more brooding atmosphere, maybe with a hint of doom. The sound is more "old school" and the songs are squalid and tormenting rather than brief blastfests. I'd also say that the album gives an impression of World War I, as for why, I am not sure. Anyhow, it sounds good.

A Traitor Like Judas - Nightmare Inc. (2005)

Metalcore not especially it is pleasant to me, except for such groups as As I Lay Dying and All That Remains. But this album of German group A Traitor Like Judas does not allow me to forget about metalcore to what I strenuously aspire because I am fan of Death, Black, Grind, Thrash and Doom Metal)))
Well, do you remember As I Lay Dying's "Shadows Are Security"? Nightmare Inc. forces the listener to remember "Shadows Are Security". It's same lethal Melodic Death Metal/Metalcore with great drums and excellent riffs! What about vocals - sometimes they are pure, sometimes it is harsh vocal, very extreme and agressive.
I want to recommend this album for all fans of Melodic Death Metal with Metalcore influences. You will not be sorry if you download it. Enjoy!

Friday, March 13, 2009

Abhorer - Zygotical Sabbatory Anabapt (1996)

Huzzah!

We just passed 1000 posts.
Is this awesome? (Y/N)

Aastyra - Aastral Projections (2007)

One-man project from Canada. There are 2 types of musicians: which impudently tear off bases from more known associates on musical flank, and what draw music on similarity of the imaginations. The given project unequivocally corresponds to the second type! For a long time I did not test such delight from experimental ambient black metal! It is wonderful! Switch off light, smoke a cigarette, switch on Aastyra - Aastral Projections. Be weakened while Intro plays, which collects all your ideas in a single whole. Following composition Interstellar Death Race which in my opinion the most allocate on this album, blows up collected whole ideas on billions slices and at once carries away your reason in far spaces of Space. Your ideas again will gather also will go the course. Ambient losses and compositions will stop your fascinating flight in space, but then high-speed black, seasoned with these truly space melodies again will carry away your reason in novel areas that are inaccessible to usual narrow-minded human herd.
It is devoted to those who does not start up anybody in the private world. The world which is allocated those qualities, contact with which calms you and gives new forces by a life.

Wizard - Thor (2009)

Continuing with my trend of posting super cheesy but oddly 'good' power metal, I bring you Thor. Mighty and whimsical, triumphant and heavy. The lyrics, not so epic, quite laughable. The first song alone will have you banging our head and throwing your fists upwards to Valhalla. If your all about killing trolls and riding white steads to battle, you'll enjoy the shit outta this.
It's at least amusing. I suggest for best effect you play this at a social gathering where drinking is involved.
Also, you don't need to wear a shirt when listening.

Kill the troll is what he will
He hurries to the place
Goats are running, Hammer kill
Lightning shows his face

I think this is a concept album, cuz according to the Lyrics it seems more like back and forth dialog.. still hilarious.

A Day of Pigs - Lecherous (2007)

Aborted Fetus - Goresoaked Clinical Accident (2008)

Russian Brutal Death/Grind band. Re-recorded of all their demos in one, first full-length, album! For fans of Abysmal Torment! Very brutal and fast! Nice debut.

German Death/Grind Metal with some Thrash Metal influences. Not bad. Not original and special, but interesting and every listening of this album contains something new.

Abaddon Incarnate - Dark Crusade (2004)

Third and last full-length album from the group. More conceptual but it's all the same made in Abaddon Incarnate's firm key and not lose music individuality which made Abaddon Incarnate one of my favourite Death/Grind group. Also MUST HAVE as previous both albums! Enjoy!!

Second full-length from this sick Irish guys. This album contains Brutal Death Metal & Grindcore. Made in best traditions of Leng Tch'e & Nasum! Must Have!!!!!!!

Spawn Of Possession

Wormpastes review of: Noctambulant (2006)

This album is consistently lauded by tech death fans. As contrary to Necrophagist's style - where an average listener can't tell the solos and riffs apart - Spawn Of Possession excel at making songs complex in their structure. The emphasis isn't on solos or any attempts at showing off, Noctambulant is more like a balanced whole that is already hard to dechiper. If you hear a certain riff, you might not hear it again if you don't put the song on repeat. Noctambulant isn't the most memorable album, but that's past the point. It's a treat for fans of technical death, and for those who wish to expand their horizons on complex, elaborate extreme metal.
id_ has this to say: Yep, technical metal. It's fun. I don't write good reviews.

Abaddon Incarnate - The Last Supper (1999)

One of the best albums which was released for all time of existence Death Metal! Sick and brutal metal from Ireland.

A Mind Confused - Anarchos (1997)

The project of Kaamos's members (another Swedish Old School Death Metal). A Mind Confused also suggests the listener high-quality Swedish Old School Death Metal in which contains Atmospheric Doom and Black Metal elements, however distinction between Kaamos and A Mind Confused are appreciable that last project has created so successful album that its success "has surpassed" estimations of all releases Kaamos taken together. Excellent quality of record, effective and organically varying courses of melodies, masterful work of drums with other instruments and a gloomy atmosphere with hatred and spirit of satanism which will hook on the listener up to the end of an album, forcing to start repeated listening over and over again. The disk was released in well-known Sunlight Studio (At The Gates, Amorphis, Entombed) under the direction of participant Dismember and Carnage Fred Estby (also producer Daemon, Konkhra).

Psyopus - Odd Senses (2009)

This album.. well, this band.. either they're too technical and just a clusterfuck of noise with no appeal to it; or they're hailed as mighty icons in technical brilliance. This album is either more of the Psyopus you already adore with a kick in the pants extra or the potential nail in the coffin.. I wasn't really sold to this, figure I'd give you champs a chance.

YOU DECIDE. Or argue with me in the comments.

It's argued the genre they apply to is a mix of: Tech/Death/~core/Grind

Ripping Corpse

Encyclopaedia Metallum | Last.fm | Myspace

Dreaming With The Dead (1991)
Quality: 192 kbps MP3 / CBR
Download: Rapidshare

Unreleased album + Promo (1992)
Quality: 128 kbps MP3 / CBR
Download: Rapidshare

Since I've been slacking (again) lately, I've decided to post some truly remarkable death metal, and Ripping Corpse just fit that description. Ripping Corpse were active in the late 80s and early 90s. They were a prominent band and had an excellent lineup, but they split up in 1992 and the members went on to join or create other bands (Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, and Dim Mak). They're most widely known for their death metal classic Dreaming With The Dead, which is one of my choice albums when it comes to traditional death metal. It sounds harsh, and the noticeable influence of thrash metal is still there. It's atmosphere is evil and captivating, it's like how today's 'old school' death bands would want to sound like. Ripping Corpse also started recording an album in 1992, but was left unfinished when the band called it's quits. There is a bootlegged version of this album, which is quite obscure and highly acclaimed. It has no vocals, but everything else is in place. It's included in the second archive, along with the 1992 promo, which is also very good.
