Funeral is a Funeral Doom Metal band from Norway. They were formed in 1991 marking one of the first pioneers in the sub-genre of Funeral Doom. The band has produced 5 full-length albums and four demos.
This is what you would want at your procession.
Chilling is how I would describe it with, with the genres slow churn of haunting that comes standard. Good times.

Am I posting far to much for you fine folk? Ahh.. better to much than to lil, eh? So, someone requested a re-up of another album by this fine band and I don't have it, so I figure I'd offer up this. Naglfar plays a black metal (least on this album) that I can only describe as... Death Cult Armageddon era Dimmu Borgir without as much corniness. Throw in some Old Man's Child too.. get where I'm going with this?
It's still quite enjoyable! Feel free to hate me and give a better description in the comments!

Macabre are a pioneering death metal band from the USA. They were formed in 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, and ever since have never had a line-up change. They blend thrash metal, death metal and grindcore to form their own unique style dubbed Murder Metal. Oddly enough, although being one of the first bands ever to play death metal, their influence is not as far reaching as one would think. This is probably due to their lyrical content and humorous attitude towards songwriting. Lyrically, they have a strong focus on serial killers, mass murderers and a touch of sick gore humour.
That's Last.FM's description. Which is basically spot on. The lyrics are catchy and memorable with a good dose of information and humor. It's like an audio version of Wikipedia you can head-bang to.

After doing my research about this band I'm still not impressed and I'm assuming the later releases are way better. Last.fm describes them as: "crafting their own brand of power electronics, grindcore and confrontational performance art.".
It most certainly has the elements of a noise band, I'm still not sure about the grind elements.
This release, the demo, seems quite.. minimal. It sounds like a couple of guys who just picked up a keyboard and drum machine. Hey, whatever floats boats.

It's both Pornogrind, goregrind and pure audio ear sex magic.
Two handsome Germans making varieties of terrible noise from the oddly enjoyable (makes you wanna shake your groove thing) to the pummeling grind that you'd expect. Toilet bowl gutturals, soundclips, grunts, growls, moans.
Expect a 'affiliated/similar to' post coming soon. A la: Gut, Torsofuck, etc
As you'll notice towards the later albums the sound gets more 'electronic'. This can be both bad and good depending on whose listening.

How do I define this.. hm. "Bi-Polar Doomish stuff thats not really on the complete down of the mood, but still below neutral." It's got class to it. It's got a later years Katatonia feel to it, with growling... wait, no. Hmm. Oh I just don't know.
* I corrected the track titles. & file names this time around. Everything should be corect.
I'm sure I'm quite late on the posting of this, but hey, better late than never. It's Vader, I can't think of what to write to describe the band that you don't already know. This release is 'special' however, for it is no mere "compilation". "The album is a collection of re-recorded songs from earlier Vader albums, from The Ultimate Incantation up to The Beast."

Elvenefris has a remarkable style and sound, I'd describe it as 'celestial' or 'epic'. It can't quite be labeled as either technical or progressive death, since it embraces a whole array of styles, but both are part of it. Every song is full of shifting emotions, there's not one monotonous track. The vocals are very deep grunts, but they fit the music very well, either when it's on the brutal or the 'happy' side. The riffs are quite awkward, the kind you don't hear very often; possibly on a Gorguts album, although the similarity is not related to their styles, but rather to their obscureness. The drums are done by Tom Corn of Garbage Disposal and Despise, he does an incredible job here as well. The whole album is astounding, I know of very few others that could compare.
Lovecraft-inspired tech brutal death. A very solid debut.
Regarded as one of the best in early NYDM.

Hate Eternal probably need no introduction, but I'll do it anyway. The band consists of ex and present members of Ripping Corpse, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse, plus a sick fuck drummer. The drummer's role is currently filled in by Jade Simonetto, but Derek Roddy did the blasts for this album. I, Monarch is a pulverizing assault of uncompromising death metal, typical for the style of Hate Eternal. Those who'd enjoy an album of unrelenting brutality will like this.
Pure elitery.
Br00tal, d00d.

The little brother of Benighted [i.e. the best band in the world]. The two bands are similar in sound and style, and Julien Truchan does the vocals, thus instantly making the album awesome.

Leng Tch'e still kick ass. I thought they were bound to fuck up after the vocalist change, but luckily I was proven wrong. The Fuck The Facts side of the split is also very good.

Has a similar approach to tech brutal death as last year's Odious Mortem album. Doesn't top Brutality Is Law, but not bad.

Looks like Deeds have taken a more melodic direction with their new effort.
